Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW) is dedicated to education the public about the role of women-identifying visual journalists and fostering their professional success.
WPOW holds an annual photography competition for its members. The winning images are collected into a traveling exhibition, which is sent to universities and other institutions around the country. The 2024 exhibition is on display in the McDougall Center gallery January-March 2024. This is a sample of photographs in the exhibit.

A group of 220 migrants, including infants and families, were taken into custody by U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the morning on August 12, 2022 in Eagle Pass, Texas. They crossed the Rio Grande to enter the U.S. and many had made the long perilous journey from Venezuela or Cuba. Data shows a record number of undocumented immigrant crossings at the southwest border for fiscal year 2022. The number topped 2.76 million, breaking the previous annual record by more than 1 million.
